  This is a response to a question I had received: What is the difference between a Magician and a Wizard? Magicians are classic magic-users in the fantasy setting, encompassing a wide variety of typologies and practice. The form of which they take differs wildly and is highly dependent on the fantasy setting. In contrast, Wizards are more type-specific. They are typically wise old men who study magic as a profession through hard work and discipline. Intellectually oriented, they typically guide the hero through personal development and orienting them to actualize their potential. Wizards are typically old, being that it is sometimes considered that one requires this period of time to be a true wizard. While wizards can be evil, the concept is usually referred to by another name, such as sorcerer or warlock, though this is highly contingent upon fantasy setting.   Within the modern cultural paradigm, there is perhaps no better allegorical representation of spirituality than the concept of the Force from Star Wars. A series renowned for its representation of spirituality, George Lucas himself states that the point of his anthology was the creation of a modern mythology which demonstrated man's relation with ultimate reality. While the Force does not reflect a deity or religion specifically, it was intended to function as an allegorical substrate for the central metaphysical paradigm common to all religions: man’s relation with the all-pervasive, invisible “something” that permeates all aspects of our lives and existence.
